Their is something which most of us, since the beginning of time, are masters of. It spreads faster than any disease. It has had it's hand in many wars. It is unseen by the eye when it spreads, but the ears know of it's presence. It spreads faster than any cold, virus, or anything else. It is the catalyst to all sickness, whether it be a physical sickness or a spiritual one. This is a cancer, that will make any existing condition worse. It will cause you to give up. It starts hatred to spread. It has caused many to lose their lives. You can be in a room full of people, and someone is always negative in their speech. Then it spreads to someone else's mouth. Negativity is NOT something that can be defeated by human means. We do not posess such power. You can't take a pill, or get a shot from your doctor. You can't hide from it. With God's help, you can defeat it. You can stop the spread of negativity, you can stop negativity from feeding your medical conditions. You can stop negativity from fueling the laziness at work. You can stop it all together with the Lord's help. Only prayer to God can stop this addiction. Negativity is an addiction. It consumed my life for many years. I use to feed the negativity monster. I caused fellow employees to think they deserved more of a raise, I caused many to go home feeling sick in their stomachs, I caused many to call in sick to work. I caused many to start fights, by spreading gossip, which is also fueled by negativity. Let me explain. Say someone tells you something in secret. You tell someone else, and so on and so on. When this secret finally gets back to the owner, that person gets a bad feeling, also considered a negative feeling, in the pit of their stomach. Then that person gets angry at you, and Negativity steps in. Negativity isnt being looked at under microscopes. No one is giving money, to scientists and/or doctors, to come up with a cure for negativity. This is one of the biggest issues mankind faces. It doesn't matter if the negativity being spread is true or not. Maybe you did deserve a better raise than a co-worker, but the more you think about it, the more it eats at you. The thing eating at you is negativity. Let God fight your battle. You should be happy with what you have. Your desires can also take a negative twists. If you don't achieve whatever desire you have, negativity steps in. Stop this cancer.
We need to be positive. I'm not speaking of the human idea of being positive (self-esteme,etc) Don't get me wrong being positive is a great thing, but just like doing good things wont get you to heaven, being positive isn't all you need. The opposite of negative isn't positive. The opposite of negative for us Christians is FAITH! Their are a lot of atheists who can be positive, I'm sure. We shouldn't just believe that God saved us. Anyone can do that. That's being positive. WE KNOW GOD SAVED US! that is FAITH! That's a different kind of positive. That is something that God gave you. You didn't just one day wake up and know that. The Holy spirit put that in your heart, now that's FAITH!
Since Faith is the opposite of Negativity, how do you ever expect Jesus Christ to work in your life, if you are full of negativity?
Matthew 13:58 (NLT) And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.
Their unbelief was a lack of FAITH. This was the negativity that spread from person to person.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
The false arguments as mentioned in the above scripture, are always fueled by negativity. The rebellious thoughts are spread through negativity. Im sure all of you reading this know what I'm saying. We all need to look at negativity as Cancer in our lives. None of us are immune. Staying in your bible and praying to God is the only way to hold your ground. Lean on the ever lasting arm of Jesus. Remember, God works throughsubstance. A Christian's substance is FAITH. Don't be like the unbelievers and take upon yourself their ways. Don't be negative, and don't let any negativity grow in your body and control your tongue. Once this grows on you, it will eat your mind, destroy your heart, and spread out to others from your voice. Without LOVE, we are NOT Christians! If you are consummed with negativity, then how will LOVE ever live in you?
Proverbs 18:21 (NLT) says: "Those who love to talk will experience the consequences, for the tongue can kill or nourish life."
Please Lord God, Give us your Love for humanity. Please open our eyes, help us see, the weapons used by the devil to destroy us. Lord I ask that you protect all from the evil, that finds its way in our lives, whether it be in our marriages, our jobs, our ambitions, or other relationships. Please Lord as stated in James 1:19, help us be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. May your Kingdom come Lord Jesus. May every knee bow and every tongue confess that you are The Lord, Our God. Amen.
